JAMBALAYA!!

It's on. Churches unite!  The gathering we've all been waiting for... sometimes...

it's officially on friday 1/26 7pm @ NYCAC.

here are the notes from our last meeting skilled by Wendy:

preplanning notes:
Phillipians 1:3-6
3I thank my God every time I remember you. 4In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

unity- interdependence, not independence: help each other's churches strengths weaknesses: ex. learn from other's worship, youth fellowship, etc

"church in chinatown", how the New Testament books, written to the church in Ephesus, imagine the "church in chinatown/manhattan.." the body of christ without boundaries of church names/denominations

Pre Kick Off Dinner?

name: Anna (I am...not a college student anymore heh. I just graduated in May, and I'm a graphic designer working at a
firm called 50000feet...the fact that xanga does not let me control the leading is driving me crazy!)

church: NYCAC

Last time we met, we spoke about breaking up into small groups and doing something together as churches. OCM is with GFC since they have more people.

Our group (NYCAC, BAC, CUMC, NYCBC, GCAC) spoke about a possible coffee house. I was thinking about it, and something that stood out was: Point to Jesus. How else will any coffee house have any worth in the kingdom?

Can we get together in two weeks? Sunday, 12/17 and just...have coffee and talk and pray about the coffee house in January? Just putting the date out there, and time I'm thinking afternoon like 4? Can at least one person representing each church respond so we know who is available?

Let's make this site a forum, open to the entire fellowship, so people will be welcomed into getting in on what God is doing.
Spread the link and keep the focus.

  • Our fellowsip (DOC aka Disciples of Christ) just finished the book of Ephesians and this past Friday we talked about the shield of faith. One image I get immediately (ok,ok I am a Tolkein nerd...) is from the Two Towers where all the orcs are trying to seige Helms deep and they use their shields to form this little line of barrier : top, and both sides were protected from the arrows.
  • Cheesy image, but it makes me think of us and unity: If all of us are weilding this shield of faith together, we are much stronger than one man standing defense alone. We have each other's back.
  • Only weapon for offense is the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God, so let us keep delving deep and keep in step with Him.
